ACHIEVEMENTS AND ACTIVITIES

>>

Designed and developed a data acquisition system with stepper motors: controlling 3 dimensional probe positioning and registering data from a five-hole yaw meter for each position. The whole system can work independently through the computer software I have developed for the project. The system is in use in the turbulence laboratory of Mech. Engg. Dept. BUET under the supervision of Prof. M. A. Taher Ali [R1]. A M.Sc. student is using this at present.

Completed an undergraduate thesis on “Effect of Pressure Angle in the Gear Teeth: A Finite Difference Approachunder Dr. M A Salam Akanda [R2]. The thesis was a Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) in the field of Solid Mechanics. The thesis enlightens some new results with the help of the CAE software.

Developed an embedded system - “Computer Aided Wind Velocity Measurer And Direction Indication Systemas a term project during completion of level - 3, term - 1 (semster 5). The entier system can work independently collecting data for a suitable site and store it in a computer.


COMPUTER SKILLS

Conversant in C/C++, Java & C#, Unix networking and others. Successfully completed a course on Java from “Genetic Computers”.

>>

Participated in several programming contests, and stood fourth in Intra-BUET programming contest, 1998. Solved over two hundred programming problems in the ACM Chapter at the University of Valladolid, Spain. The status can be found at Valladolid Site [W2].

Currently working as programming problem setter for the programming contests held regularly in the internet. Also working as a member of the algorithm team for the ACM Chapter in Valladolid University. Developed numerous tools including a “Number to Voice Conversion Utilityin Visual Basic, “Programming Contest Judging System" in C++, “Programming Contest Helping Systemin Visual Basic, “Algorithm Packagein C++ and Java, “GRE Word Skill Testerin C#, “XML Based TOEFL Essay Browserin C#, etc.

Running a home network of five pc's. ‘dhcpd’, ‘sendmail’, ‘nis’, ‘dns’, ‘samba’, ‘ldap’ etc daemons are configured in the Linux server, running mainly Slackware or Fedora distribution, for proper functioning of the network.

>>

Ability to troubleshoot different problems in various operating systems including Linux, Unix, Windows 9X, NT, XP etc. Involved with the Linux and Unix users community, ‘bdlug’ since 1999.

>>

Working for the Ankur, the Bengali Linux operating system. Basically involved into the translation, development and promotional activities of the group.
