About the Graduate Research Network Online 2002
Computers and Writing Online 2002 announces the Graduate Research Network Online, coordinated by Veronica Pantoja and Rebecca Rickly. As the C&W Online 2002 companion to the C&W 2002 Graduate Research Network, the Graduate Research Network Online is a forum for graduate students and recent graduates to discuss research projects and work in progress of interest to those working with Computers and Writing, with experienced researchers, editors, and peers. As part of Computers and Writing Online Conference, the Graduate Research Network Online will take place as a series of events on Nouspace MOO. The Graduate Research Network Online strongly encourages all graduate students, including those who will present at the Graduate Research Network at C&W 2002 to participate in the online event. You are welcome to present the same topic at both events.

While we have a variety of events planned, the heart of the Graduate Research Network Online will be the small group discussions, which will group those with similar research interests with discussion leaders who will facilitate discussion and offer suggestions for developing research projects and for finding suitable venues for publication. We encourage anyone interested or involved in graduate education and scholarship--students, professors, mentors, and interested others--to participate in this important event.

We welcome those pursuing a wide variety of research models (qualitative studies, quantitative studies, textual/hypertextual/intertextual studies, traditional or electronic theses/dissertation projects, etc.) at any stage, from those just beginning to design a project to those whose projects are ready to pursue publication. Those intending to participate in the onsite event at Illinois State this year are strongly encouraged to present your work as part of the Graduate Research Network Online as well.   All work-in-progress presenters and discussion leaders will be listed in the CW Online 2002 Website.

To participate in the Graduate Research Network Online you will need to

  • submit an abstract at least a week before opening ceremonies
  • register for the Computers and Writing Online Conference (it's free)
  • prepare a summary of your work to share
  • join your discussion group on Nouspace MOO at the appropriate time.
