Viet Nam's Children |
Who We AreI (Willa) and my husband, Bruce, have been married since January, 1995. We are a middle-age couple (45 and 53); we were both married previously but neither of us had children. We talked about having children when we first got married, but because of our age, we were told that we were too old to adopt a baby. We simply dropped the idea of having a child and enjoyed our life together. We felt so blessed to find each other at this point in our life, that it was hard to believe that anything could be missing from our life. In September of 1996, I suggested that we become foster parents. My husband, in turn, suggested we look into adopting. We had just heard about some older parents adopting infants from China, so we decided to look into international adoption. In April, 1996 I traveled to Viet Nam to pick up our son, Nghia.
