Dave is one of ASU's most outspoken policy advocates. His research focuses on state and local fiscal policy and analyses of economic development, but he's also researched numerous other areas from education, voting schemes, initiative reform, affordable housing, immigration and the war on Iraq through his numerous op-eds. He predicted our present economic dire straights in 2005.

Community Discourse through Op-ed columns
While Dave began his first stint as a regular op-ed writer in in 1988 as a graduate student, continued again in 1996 while living in Indiana, and had his first piece in the AZ Republic main opinion page in 1999. Since Nov. 2004, he's been a regular contributor to the Republic community pages, Tribune, as well as the Tucson Citizen. Selected op-eds:
