NUTRITION TIP OF THE WEEK
-Fat BASICS-
One of the major functions of fat is to provide energy. Although fat may be an important energy source for low- to moderate-intensity exercise, it is not the optimal energy source during high-intensity aerobic or anaerobic exercise. An individual should consume 10-20 percent of their daily calories from fat.

Fat does not make you Fat!!!

It is important to ensure you take in "good" fats.
The Good fats are: Monounsaturated fats, which lower the “BAD” Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and increase the “GOOD” High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. Canola and peanut oils are high in monounsaturated fats. Polyunsaturated fats also lower total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol. Omega 3 fatty acids (found in some fish) belong to this group. Other oils high in polyunsaturated fats are corn, safflower, olive, sunflower, and grape seed oils.
