A project in conjunction with--and response to--the upcoming United States Holocaust Memorial Museum's  Exhibition: Nazi Persecution of Homosexuals, 1933-1945

Burton Barr Central Library, 1221 N. Central Avenue, March 2004

»IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DO MORE THAN JUST VIEW THE EXHIBIT:

            Contribute a line of poetry
as a way to say something, to do something,
             as a way to remember.

The
cruelty of many hands contributed to the death of Matthew Shepard.  We hope to offer the good work of many hands and many minds in singular response.    This is one good way to remember, by doing something.

Renga--the form we will loosely use--is an ancient form of linking together lines of poetry by different people into a single poem, a poem rich by virtue of its many hands.  The word "renga" means "linked elegance."
