“If a man is obliged to take even the life of another, in the disharge [sic] of his duty, he should do it with perfect kindness and courtesy”

Thomas Low Nichols, How to Behave, 1873

BIOGRAPHY
My research interests are concentrated on British and European 19th century literature and culture. Authors of special interests to me are Percy B. Shelley, Lord Byron, Robert Browning, and Fredrika Bremer. My first book, Shelley's Cenci: Text Intertext, and Context is forthcoming with Valancourt Press fall 2007.

My teaching interests are somewhat broader in scope, and I focus on developing and teaching courses about the literatures of Western Europe and North America from the Renaissance to the 20th century, often with a significant technology component.

In addition to my lecturership in the English Department I am also the onsite Program Coordinator for the ASU Summer Program in Florence, Italy, a multi-disciplinal, humanities-based study abroad program for both undergraduate and graduate students. The Program website can be visited at http://asu.edu/florenceitaly .

To find out more about my teaching please visit my individual course pages.
