Course Description (GD 430, GD 630)
This course investigates typography and typographic design through a systematic design process. It focuses on the verbal/visual semantics and syntax that form type and image into meaning and communication.
The typographic inquiry and search for inspiration crosses disciplines to adapt and adopt form, ideas, and methodologies found in other subjects, such as literature, performing arts, architecture, design, and the sciences (social, life, physical).
Content, the designer's process, and the use of digital tools and media forms the basis for enabling solutions to complex typographic problems and more effective communication.
