In comparing your average with the class average you need to compare with an average which is representative of the final average. Dropping the lowest scores before reporting the average is one way of estimating the effect of the final drops. FINAL EXAM Of the 142 students who had taken four or more tests and had more than 100 HW points, 132 took the final exam. For those 132 students the final exam average is 25.9 out of 39, or 66.4%. The highest E is 53.3, the lowest D is 54.1; the highest D is 63.9, the lowest C is 64.7; the highest C is 75.2, the lowest B is 76.5; the highest B is 85.6, and the lowest A is 86.3. The smallest gap between levels is 0.7 points between B to A. Be sure to check your TA's computation of your final grade. If you find a significant error the best time to see me is Thursday afternoon or Friday between 10:30 and 11:30 AM. After that time any change of grade requires a change of grade form.
