Hello,

I am currently building a Willy's pickup. I am using Willy's sheet metal on a 1982 Toyota 4X4 shortbox chassis with a 22R engine that I acquired that has only 66,000 original miles. Shown is the '49 Pickup and the work in progress including hauling the old chassis out and bringing in the new. I am going to lengthen the chassis 12" in the middle of the cab. The Willys body will mount to the original front cab mounts. Please include these pictures on your great site. I will send more as work progresses.

Thanks,

Hi Rick,

Work is progressing on the jeep that I am mating to the '82 Toyota short box chassis. I have now cut a '51 grill up and modified it to fit '49 fenders as I like the pointed grill and the flat fenders.(Attached is a picture of the grill 1/2 done) I have also completed stretching the '82 toyota frame and pretty much finished the chassis. After I stretched the frame 12" I decided the motor was too far forward so I cut it out and moved it back 3 1/2". After all was said and done I was still able to use a stock rear longbox driveline but have to extend the front driveline 3 1/2". I have fitted the Toy steering column, brake pedals, etc. and am ready to get started on the body work. I finally found a rear fender but had to drive 300 miles to get it. I have attached a few pictures. If you get time can you add the picture of the whole truck to the end of my gallery on Page 5 - B29?

Thanks,

Hi Rick,

Work is in high gear on the truck. I decided to build a box from scratch. The biggest expense was having the sheet metal rolled for $100. The bottom ribbed metal is from the Toyota truck. I shortened it a bit to 6 feet. I have attached 2 more pics. If you can add them to the bottom after the pic with me and before the pic of the Toyota that would be great.

Thanks,

    John

Hi Rick,

Well my truck is done and ready for final paint. I put in a set of '97 Tacoma 60/40 seats and they work real nice. Please add these pictures to the front of my Gallery. If you aren't updating gallery please let me know. Your page has been a great inspiration for me for this one year project. It looks like I am out of money and a warm place to paint so I am mothballing the project until this Spring. Note how I squeezed the Toyota dash in. Every system in the Truck is '82 Toyota except the sheet metal, even the windshield wiper motor, heater motor air-conditioning, wiring etc.

Thanks,

    John Weingart
