For my family object I chose a book written by my great grandmother about my great, great, great grandfather, Revolutionary War hero General Andrew Pickens. The book details how and why different relatives of mine immigrated first from Scotland to Northern Ireland and then later to America. The book is interesting because it reveals how four families created their own clan and stuck together, intermarrying between the clan and rose to great prominence within the United States. Such notable relatives are Sam Houston, General of the Texas Revoution and first President of Texas, and John C. Calhoun, Vice President of the United States.
