FAMILY OBJECT

The object I chose to bring in was a ruby and diamond ring.  The ring originally belonged to my grandmother.  The ring was a gift from her mother, my great grandmother.  She came to America in the early 1900s from Poland with her family.  Her dad, my great grandfather, was hoping to find a new life in America.  He was uneducated, but still a very hard worker.

After my grandmother died, the ring was given to my mother, who then gave it to me.  It has become a family heirloom, which makes me really nervous to wear it.  I only take it out on special occasions, and hope to give it to my daughter one of these days.
