Is permanent citizenship possible? How?

There are two ways of becoming a British citizen:

  1. Registration-This applies to British nationals (i.e. British overseas territories, British protected persons etc.)
  2. Naturalisation-This applies to Foreign nationals, Commonwealth citizens and Irish citizens. Applicants must: a) have lived in United Kingdom for five years; be 18 or over; not be of “unsound mind”; be of good character; possess knowledge of English, Welsh or Scottish Gaelic; and close affinity with the United Kingdom.

Any restrictions on job market for immigrants?

United Kingdom continually seeks to balance vital skill shortages and polarized race relations. Learning from other immigrant receiving countries like Australia and Canada it launched a program called Highly Skilled Migrant Program.  It is a program designed to allow persons with certain skills a route of legal entry to the United Kingdom and compete in the Global economy.
