 Valley Residents:

In Dr. Koptiuchs Migration and Culture class this semester we learned many things hands on.  We not only attended events that informed us about migrant’s journeys here into the US, but also honored all the migrants that have died to come here to live out the American dream.  Perhaps, the most effective part of this class was our field trip to Mexico.  We got a chance to visit Border Patrol and learn about the process that people have to go threw just to come here, and we also visited poor neighborhoods and got to see how and where they live and eat some of their authentic food!

After taking this class I have really learned to appreciate the type of life we have here in the US, compared to how people in Mexico live.  I also felt lucky to be a citizen here and belong to this country, and not have to fight to get here.
