Thoughts...

No matter what part of the world we live and originate from, we all share the desire to enjoy the basic necessities of life.  This humanistic right is one that shouldn't be denied based on borders or laws and regulations.  Everyone deserves a chance to live, and to provide for their loved ones.

This course has reminded me of just how fortunate I am.  I have wonderful parents who have sacrificed so much that I might enjoy the blessings of freedom and education.  Throughout the course I've seen the lack in the live's of many and I've felt a longing that each one might have the same opportunity as myself.

I don't think we realize just how interdependant we are.  The benefits of migration ca be viewed macrostructurally, and on intermediate and subject levels.  Instead of creating barriers, shouldn't we be working together?

Our class was greatly enriched by the contributions of my classmates.  Each one brought unique characteristics, talents and insights to our class.  Chatter and chatter box kept things humorous.  Julie enlightened every topic with her insights.  We had individuals from  Croatia, Afghanistan, Mexico, Tonga, Canada, India and the Philipines.  In addition to the variety of students we had a wonderful teacher Dr. Koptiuch.  I can honestly say that the experience I gained from Migration and Culture  will help me in the remainder of my educational pursuits, in my future career and in my dealings with people and society.

Oh my gosh I just thought about how I might not see my classmates again... That so sad.  I hope and pray that they will continue to find success in their pursuits and that I will get to see them again.

Like Vinh said- Miscommunication leads to misunderstanding.  If we listen before we assume, we can avoid misunderstandings.  Seek to understand others.  Learn from those around you.  Don't be afraid of migration and those of different backgrounds.  Beyond the land divisions and borders created by cultural differences- We are all products of a supreme creator.    The founding fathers of the United States of America were immigrants as well...

Those of you who have migrated.  There is good in every culture, use them for the betterment of yourself, your family and society.  Just because you are in a new land, that doesn't mean that you have to lose your roots and your identity.  Share them, you never know the lives you can impact.  FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS, MAKE IT HAPPEN AND SHARE IT WITH OTHERS.
