Border Justice

Return to Vinay's Home Page

I attended the court forum where university students were the justices and other students were the lawyers.  The lawyers were presenting issues regarding immigration.  I had a difficult time hearing which in turn made it difficult for me to understand.  The acoustics in the hall were horrible, in addition to the ongoing noise from the adjacent room.  In the future I would hope that this type of problem would be avoided.

However, I also visited the room with the posters, and found it to be very interesting.  Creativeness displayed by the students was great in creating the posters.  The information provided on the posters were regarding the immigration laws, migration from other countries as well as per capita income of the immigrant groups in that particular country.

I also participated and helped in creating a portion of the mending wall that was on display at the Border and Justice event.  The portion of the wall that I helped to create was on behalf of Amnesty International.  The planning and the message put forth by the wall was direct and eye-catching.  The message was displaying the tragic end to many immigrants lives as they attempted to cross the desert at the hands of border militias.  The message would be had by any individual who either was not familiar with the immigration issue or one who opposed the immigration issue.
