       France: Flag and Anthem                                  France

The country poster was geared towards the guest worker policies of France.  Before 1973, there was an increase in labor immigration to France.  Then after 1973 the French government imposed control over labor immigration.  The proposed laws were amended which made more difficult to immigrate to France. In 1993, France implemented a new policy of "zero immigration".  In March 1995 France became part of the Schengen Agreement, which standardized, eliminating, from an immigration perspective, internal borders to foreign nationals. Currently there are 2.3 million immigrant workers in France.  A foreign national of the European Union Nation upon entering a member nation is not required to show their passport also do not require a Work Permit or Visa to be employed in France

Immigrants are now able to obtain many types of visas: business visitors visa; "detachment" work permit; "Introduction" work permit; Long-term entry visa; "Carte de Sejour" Residence Permit.  All types of visas that are offered have duration restrictions and processing time for each type of visa varies.
