My Bio Page

By Michelle Cox

My name is Michelle and I am a 22 year old student from Cape Cod, Massachusetts.  I am currently a third year business student, though this is my fourth year of college.  I began my college career studying at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida as a Marine Biology major with a focus on marine mammology.  After my freshman year, I transferred to a community college close to home and changed my major to Business Administration with a Management and marketing focus.

I will admit that the first time I heard about and showed any interest in the Semester at Sea Program was when the MTV "Road Rules: Semester at Sea" aired on the television when I was a pre-teen.  i always knew i wanted to travelt he world one day, and since I knew there was a program out there that was perfect for me, it sat in the back of my mind until I entered college and it became more of a reality.  I began looking into other study abroad programs before I was 100% sure I wanted to participate in Semester at Sea.  By the beginning of my last semester at my second school, I had applied and been accepted to the program within two weeks.  It was time to kick it in to high gear and get all my paperwork filled out, schedule set, and passport and visas into ISE.  That is when my journey really began.

Now that my journey is coming to an end, I am realizing how much this experience is going to change my life and the way I view the world forever.  My experience as a Semester at Sea student has made me realize how capable I am of overcoming new challenges in my life and just how lucky I am to have the opportunity to see the world at the age of 22.  It has been the most incredible experience i could've hoped for (the good and the bad) and I have learned and grown so much from it all.  Upon my return home, I will beginning an entirely new chapter of my life at a new four-year college as a Business Student, but now with a Cultural Studies minor influenced by these past three months.
