Learning From South Phoenix

South Phoenix, despite it's stereotyped image, has huge amounts of culture.  On our first day in South Phoenix, we ran around and took pictures of all kinds of cultural styles.  As our pictures show, we found a dominant Hispanic culture.

These pictures were taken at Los Dos Molinos.  This is a wonderful restaurant located just off of Central Avenue, north of Dobbins Road.

Pictured above is a mural painted along Central Ave.  This mural is painted in both english and spanish with an abstinence theme.

As we wandered around, we came across the most cultural McDonalds I've ever seen.  In place of Ronald McDonald is a picture of  the Virgin Guadalupe.  Instead of Grimace welcoming you, there's a welcoming sign in english and spanish.  The decor of this McDonalds is very different than your typical McDonalds. The tile is a maroon and golden color, pictures of mariachis line the walls.    This McDonalds is definitely of a different style.  This is highly appropriate considering it's clientele is of a different style.
