For the
past six Fridays, I had the pleasure of exploring a small part of
South Mountain Village. I enjoyed the beautiful view of South
Mountain and its gorgeous park with all the different amenities. In
the future, I hope to revisit this park for the experiences of
hiking and horse back riding up and down the mountain. I enjoyed
the eateries surrounding the immediate areas on Central Avenue. The
exotic flavors of mixed spices did indeed awaken my taste buds. I
loved the Ranch Market store on the corner of Southern and Central
Ave. It was a magnificent treat exploring the different and unique
produce, bread, bakery, and the amazing small restaurant that
provided varieties of Mexican foods.
However,
many changes are happening within your community. More upscale
houses are being built and bigger chains of shopping centers are
entering your neighborhood. On one hand, the city is working hard
to clean up the vacant lots and illegal dumping areas. More
expensive and larger stores are replacing smaller mom and pop stores
and restaurants. However, I hope that in the long run the future of
this place maintains its amazing diverse ethnic background. I hope
this place remains a small part of Mexico without ever having to
leave Phoenix.
Special
thanks to Dr. K for allowing us to venture out as pioneers into
