Safety In South Phoenix
Deborah Jenkins
Visiting fire station 22 in South
Phoenix today I had one of the best experiences in my life! I was able to go on
a call with the firemen who risk their lives day in and day out to save others.
These men have such humor and they love what they do. The firefighters
shared information on what types of calls they see the most. One fireman
told me that if it were not for drugs and alcohol they would be out of business.
These two things are what cause most of the accidents in South Phoenix. When
asked about the crime rate they stated that Glendale had a higher crime rate
than South Phoenix.
These men work twenty four hour shifts, share cooking responsibilities, cleaning duties and watch out for each other when they need to.
I would like to thank the men at station 22 for a wonderful experience, for serving the public in South Phoenix and keeping it safe.
