RICHARD J.
JACOB
RESEARCH
Much of my research has been in the phenomenology of pion-nucleon interactions, with a heavy interest in pion photoproduction. Part of this effort has involved the development and application of various forms of dispersion relations to pion-nucleon, pion photoproduction and pion-pion scattering amplitudes. The most recent paper in this program is
"New evaluation of the π Ν Σ term" by G. E. Hite, W. B. Kaufmann and R. J. Jacob, Phys. Rev C71, 065201 (2005)
A review of the formalism of interior dispersion relations and their
applications to pion-nucleon and pion-pion reactions is contained in the
following document:
An Interior Dispersion Relation program for extracting low energy pion-nucleon and pion-pion scattering parameters from pion-nucleon phase shifts.
Some
key early papers in this program are as follows:
"Boundary
Dispersion Relations" by G. E. Hite and R. J. Jacob, Phys. Rev.
D5, 422-427 (1972)
"Extension of Boundary Dispersion Relations" by G. E. Hite, R. J. Jacob and F. Steiner, Phys. Rev. D6, 3333-3335 (1972)
"An Interior Dispersion Relation Determination of the Pion-Nucleon Sigma-term" by G. E. Hite and R. J. Jacob, Phys. Lett. 53B, 200-202 (1974)
"Determination of the Pion-Nucleon Coupling Constant" by G. E. Hite, R. J. Jacob and D. C. Moir, Phys. Rev. D12, 2677-2683 (1975)
