7th Avenue Streetscape Project

Project Unveiling
The Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture and Seventh Avenue Merchants Association (SAMA) will unveil new artwork and poetry on the streetscape panels at Seventh and Glenrosa Avenues. The three large panels display reproductions of original works created by Arizona artists and poets through the Office of Arts and Culture Public Art Program. This is the seventh collection of artwork exhibited in the panels that were installed in May 2004 as an ongoing urban gallery. The ceremony also will celebrate National Poetry Month. The outgoing poets will be reading as well as the incoming poets and the visual artists will discuss their work. Artists whose work will be unveiled are Ellen Wagener, Kris Sanford and Dayvid LeMmon. The poets who will have their work displayed are Jeannine Savard, Associate Professor at ASU; Hugh Martin, Teaching Assistant at ASU; and Josh Rathkamp, Coordinator of Creating Writing at Mesa Community College. Eve Vrla, graphic designer, was involved in developing the layout and background design for the poems.
