Above is a link to my group's research project on temporary workers in Italy.

We found that while Italians know they need migrants for their workforce, (Italy has the lowest birthrate in Europe) many Italians wish for their country to stay Italian.  Even the Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, has stated, "I do not want Italy to become a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural country."
