Interview...

I come from Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico, an enchanted place to live; it is traversed by many rivers, which carve broad valleys into the foothills. Sinaloa has many beaches, bays, islands and coast lagoons. It’s full of trees and bushes, it's different then America. Here in America it is very dry, there are less trees and more buildings. Everyone is busy and you hardly know anyone.  When I first came here from Mexico I lived with my sister in Los Angeles California. She lived there with her four children and another woman and her two kids. So when I moved in, there were 8 of us living in a two bedroom apartment. It was hard at first. I couldn’t find a job and getting out without knowing anything or anyone made it even harder.

I decided to come to the United States por la misma razón que cada uno que emigran; para a una vida mejor, por razones económicas, (for the same reason as everyone that emigrates; for a better life, for economic reasons), para una vida major (for a better life). My mother was a single mother of 8 children and I’m the oldest, it was my responsibility to work and provide food for the family. Since my grandfather died, it was difficult for my mother to support us. Sometimes we will go to sleep without eating anything. That’s what made me decide to emigrate to the United State; hunger, money, and a better life. My goal was to earn enough money to support my siblings and my mother and then head back to Mexico, and I did. After working in Los Angeles I decided to return to my home country. I never thought that I would be here again.
