El Capri

El Capri

This Saturday night I went to a club called El Capri. It is a dance club that plays only Spanish music for both minors and adults. It is divided in two to separate the minors and adults but both sides can hear the music. It is a place for anyone to go hang out and dance, but the majority of the people are Mexicans. It felt like if I had entered a “border zone” because it was a Mexican atmosphere in the way everyone was dressed, spoke, and acted. Just about everyone that I talked to were migrants from some part of Mexico and they were the first to come down. Most of them had all their family still in Mexico. They said that going out on Saturday’s was all the fun they had because all they did was work all week. This club ties into the class because it is a place for people, but mainly Mexicans, to go and hang out and feel like they are still at home in their homeland.
