Going Home

While one should never say never, I don’t think I’ll ever return to Wales to live again.  I have no doubt I will return for a visit, but I think it would be difficult for me to re-integrate into that society since I came to the U.S. at such a young age. Not that I think poorly of my homeland, but I have just found so much here that I love and could never leave—the music, movies, food and most of all the people. In Wales just about everyone is “Welsh,”[1]  but here in the U.S. it really is a global melting pot.


 

[1] According to the 2001 Welsh Census, over three-quarters identify themselves as Welsh born. The other quarter is from other parts of the U.K., including England, Scotland, and Ireland. Less than 1% of the population identifies themselves as something other than “white”
