About Me

Twelve years ago, I moved to Arizona from Delaware with the idea that I would obtain a enroll in Arizona State University after settling in.  It took a little longer than planned to enroll, but I am expecting to graduate in December of this year.   This fall, I will study my last semester in Thailand.  My goal is to come back to school for graduate work.

I have two terrific children and two grandchildren that are nine months old.  It is amazing, how creatures so small can cause such a commotion when they visit.   Life is very good.

Memory Map

I had not been able to remember a lot about this time in my life.  Once we moved from Silver Spring, Maryland, I did not go back for many years.  Silver Spring is a suburb of Washington, D.C.  I went to Washington many times, but never visited my childhood home until my son moved there about three years ago.

On one of my visits to him, the area became very familiar.  We bumped around for a few hours trying to find something I could recognize without any luck.  On the way back to his apartment, I realized that we were on a road near my old house.  I shouted to him to turn right quickly and then another right, and when we reached the top of the hill, there was the house.

Memories came flooding back.  The house looked different because there were some additions, but it still looked smaller than I remembered.  We took pictures and walked around the area.  Then we drove the route I took to school every day.  We stopped at the high school, elementary and junior high.  I took pictures and pointed out landmarks.

It was so emotional!  I was surprised at my chain reaction of first excitement, and then goose bumps as more old friends’ houses became recognizable and later tears.  It turned out that my old neighborhood was just across the street where he was living.  Click on the thumbnail below to see the full memory map.
