Open Letter to Valley Residents:

First of all, I would like to thank Prof. Koptiuch for her exciting and educative class format. When I was signing for this class, I did not expect that I will get so much knowledge about all kinds of immigrants: legal, refugees, and illegal immigrants. Suggested readings and research trip to Nogales, Mexico helped me to open another world of migrant’s living in the USA.

Trip to Nogales opened my eyes on living in Mexico. I knew that it is poor country, but I did not realize that is so poor. Citizens of Mexico are struggling through lack of money, food, modern living and appliances. Their incomes are extremely low and they barely make enough money to stay alive. I figured out why they are setting those extremely dangerous trips trough the border to come to the USA. It is just impossible to live in on south side of Mexican-American border. Yes, they still seem to me as “dirty” and low-cultured nation, but at least I realize that it is not their fault. “System” made them living like that.

At the end of my portfolio, I would like to send a message to all valley residents to stop hating immigrants, especially illegal part of them. They are the same people as we are! They just want a better living. Just imagine for a second, how you would live without them. Who would do your backyard? Your fast food?  Who would clean your houses and offices? No one!!!! And just for that we have to stop hating them and give them at least some respect and help. Peace!
