His research as a part-time research assistant in the Neuer lab focuses on molecular identification of marine phytoplankton based on extraction, polymerase chain reaction, and denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis of a portion of the gene encoding the 18s ribosomal subunit. Ian is currently applying to medical school with the hopes of earning an M.D. and eventually practicing oncology with a specialty in nuclear medicine. Ian’s personal interests include fly fishing, skiing, exploring the deserts of the Southwest, and, of course, cheering on the Sun Devils!
