Introspective on Migration & Culture

I am a selfish American.  Really, It's true.  I enjoy a life in a country that provides me what some call life chances.  My skin is light, and my social class has given me every opportunity for education, employment, and social services, whenever, and wherever I need them.  But now I am changing.  There are people from places all over the world that for some reason or another are less fortunate.  I have no pity for these people because they are worth more than that.  People choose to leave their homes, where they have shared a culture all their own for many years.  Their societies were communal, friendly, and peaceful for a time.  But for all sorts of reasons; political, economic, religious, war, and natural disasters, these very normal people are forced to leave what they love, what they know, and who they are.  They search in other countries for employment and acceptance, they are the working poor in search of a better life, I will embrace them.
