Chinese Cultural Center

Located near the heart of Arizona’s busiest city, Phoenix, lays the Center that represents the arts, and cultures of China. A little bit of history of this place, The Chinese Cultural Center was founded in 1997 by the China National Cereals, Oils and Foodstuff Import and Export Corporation, which is known as the acronyms COFCO.

The first section of the center which I visited was the 99 Ranch Asian Super Market. This is a place where you do not only find Soya sauce and white rice but a almost anything that has to do with Asian Cuisine. As soon as you walk into the establishment you can smell the fresh fish which I am sure some are no use to when coming to a typical AZ grocery store.  Especially when you walk to the back and see all of the live fish, crab and lobster ready and waiting to be purchased.

One of my favorite places I visited within the center was the Restaurant that was which the plaza which I do not recall the exact name. Both my friends and I were in awe of how the set up was which was not like walking into Panda Express. Beautiful traditional artifacts and pictures as well as the red wood that was dominate in the set up. One of the things that I was curious about the menu is that I wanted to order the duck. But, I was not able to due to one must call in advance in order to have duck for dinner or lunch. It takes a lot to get everything prepared to cook this dish.

The architecture of the Chinese Cultural Center stands out among the grey and brown corporate buildings it surrounds. According to the COFCO states, “The facility represents the most advanced facility in North and South America featuring Chinese architecture with an exterior highlighted by traditional Chinese gardens and replicas of ancient Chinese pagodas and statues. These features combine to create a uniquely interactive hub of Asian culture in the Southwest.” With Arizona’s growing Asian population you tend to see more Asians that are frequent visitors of this Facility. This is a place that one must go and get enriched in the Chinese Culture and experience the majestic beauty it displays.
