Dear Valley Residents:

We all have our own view points on the subject of immigration. However seeing that we are a border state this topic really hits home. Arizona is one of the states that gets hit hard with migrants flowing in and out of our borders with Mexico. One thing that we need to understand though is to not look at Migration as much in a negative connotation but as to understand the reasoning behind why these people from Mexico keep wanting to come to the U.S..

Currently many migrants seek to come to the U.S. in search of better jobs, schooling for there kids, or even to seek out families members that currently live in the U.S.. People from Mexico that migrate to the U.S. are just wanting to better there lives far greater than there current living circumstances in Mexico. So they are willing to take that journey through the dessert and risk their lives to get across.

Unfortunately today, the U.S. government is seeking to minimize the flowing in of migrants as well as attempting to send back the undocumented. Instead of trying to face the facts that migration from Mexico will always be occurring and trying to work it out we are still putting up barriers instead of trying to deal with the situation head on.

This class has taught me to appreciate this subject matter far greater than I have before. Going to Nogales, Mexico has given me first hand observation, learning and hands on experience into what migrations is all about. Especially gaining knowledge onto what's going on about it today. I had a chance to learn about both sides of the argument on what the U.S. as well as what Mexico should do. This Nogales trip I can say was really the highlight and highpoint of this course.

I highly recommend taking this class to anyone and going on the journey of learning about different Cultures and the topic of Migration.
