I joined the Neuer laboratory in the Fall of 2009 to study for a M.S. in Biology. I am primarily interested in the community structure of freshwater zooplankton, located in the local reservoirs surrounding the Phoenix metropolitan area. With this focus of study, I am often out in the field collecting specimen samples, as well as conducting experiments in the laboratory. My laboratory investigations include using the microscope to analyze organismal diversity and abundance, as well as applying molecular techniques to analyze prey preference and taxonomy.
Before joining the lab, I received a BAE in Secondary Education from Arizona State University in the Spring of 2008. I then spent a year teaching Science and developing an inquiry-based curriculum at a college preparatory high school. With this background in Education, not only do I enjoy the teaching assistant experiences here at ASU, but ultimately I will return to a teaching career, at either the Secondary or Post-Secondary level.
When I’m not in the lab or busy collecting samples, I enjoy pursuing many outdoor adventures in Arizona - activities such as mountain biking, camping, fishing, and kayaking.
