7. Poseidon: Surface Buoys
These large surface buoys form the link between the instruments in a deep sea mooring and onshore labs via a satellite link. Here they pulled up on the reeling of the Poseidon and lateron onto deck where they are serviced. Note the abundant barnacle growth on the bottom of the mooring! This mooring work is conducted by the colleagues from the Research Center Ocean Margins institute in Bremen, Germany.
