Welcome Letter

Welcome to the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College Preschool Program. The preschool is located at 1050 South Forest, Farmer Building Room 104 across from Gammage Auditorium at Arizona State University Tempe campus. The Preschool has been awarded the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Accreditation and is licensed by the Arizona State Health Department. We support the University with a preschool engaged in innovative research and a setting for future teachers to train and work.

This early childhood program is embedded in a culturally diverse community designed to meet children’s individual needs. Children participate in a variety of learning experiences through developmentally appropriate play and active learning. Active style learning engages children directly with materials, peers, adults and the environment. Through day-to-day encounters, children have the opportunity to gain knowledge of social skills and also learn the process of problem solving and conflict resolution. The university’s setting provides extraordinary opportunities for children to engage in cultural, artistic, scientific and academic activities. Parents, children and teachers work together to construct meaningful learning in a positive atmosphere.

The children enrolled are from diverse ethnic backgrounds. We emphasize the value of a multicultural education. Children with specific challenges are welcomed and are integrated in the classrooms. The three classrooms are multi-age, consisting of 2.5, 3, 4 and 5 year old students. The ratio of children to adults is 6:1.
